Supporting Faith Communities Through Educational Resources
Problem
The Commission of Disability Awareness sought a meaningful way to encourage and support families of children with autism who may feel uncertain about participating in church life. They needed a resource that would provide comfort, promote inclusion, and remind families that they belong within their faith community. Many parents face concerns about sensory challenges, behavioral differences, and whether their child will be accepted, making encouragement and practical guidance especially valuable.
Solution
CLP Consulting collaborated with the editorial team to better understand the needs of their audience and develop a resource that addressed these concerns with compassion and practical insight.
Drawing on decades of experience supporting children with disabilities and their families, CLP Founder, Dr. Susan King, authored the article, "Encouragement for Parents: Bringing Children with Autism to Church: Finding Acceptance, Community, and Faith Together." The article provides reassurance for families while encouraging churches to foster welcoming, inclusive environments where every child can participate and thrive.
Result
The article was accepted and published in the May 2026 edition of The VOICE newsletter for the Commission of Disability Awareness. Following publication, Dr. King was invited to participate in an expert panel discussion and received additional requests to share the article with other organizations, extending its impact beyond the original audience.
